3 Easy Steps to Earn $1 Million in only 2 Weeks
And other false advertisements to working less and getting rich
--
During my first months at college, I was fascinated by books like “The 4-hour week” and “Becoming a Millionaire”. I read most of them multiple times and lived in my world of fascination and imagination of “what if I could do that”. The content of these (kind of) books was very easy to understand, simple to follow, and often enriched with testimonials, where people succeeded with the described techniques. The titles or books were often subtitled by fancy catch-words like “passive income” or “entrepreneurship”.
Problem #1
The examples and best practices that are used are very specific and only hard to replicate or transfer into real life. There is no such thing as a generic “get rich quick” method, otherwise everyone would do it.
This problem is mostly focusing on becoming an entrepreneur. One that has a) no work due to outsourcing and b) no expertise in the area (simply not required). The guides and tips are often talking about very trendy ways to becoming rich. Dropshipping bad quality products from China to Europe or the US. Or selling books or courses on anything online.
For one, these tips are often outdated by the time they reach you in a book. How much dropshipping can a marketplace our country take? At the latest when China started seeing the potential and dropshipping their products through European warehouses, this “money-making machine” broke. A factor that is never talked about is liability and making an impact. For one, who is liable for the imported and sold products. If you import them and re-sell them from for example France, you are directly liable for the quality and functionality and will also have to provide support and resolution communication. If you drop-ship directly from China, you are often not disclosing this kind of information as well as you have to by law. A seller in Europe has to provide close detail about shipping time estimates and source location.
Selling books online. For one, you will need some kind of expertise that you can sell. Simply jotting down your brain dump won’t sell. Writing a good book won’t sell. Try it. Just posting a PDF for $20 on your website won’t make…
